Current Students

Through the Financial Aid Office, NOBTS offers need-based scholarships to current students each semester.  The purpose of the NOBTS scholarships is to help offset the cost of tuition. Our philosophy for awarding scholarships is to help the greatest number of students possible who demonstrate financial need.

Qualifications

  • Current or returning students must complete the online grant application in September for the Spring semester and in April for the Fall semester.  The application will only be available during these months.
  • A student must maintain full-time status during the entire semester of the award.  Full-time for main campus students is 12 hours for undergraduates, 9 hours for Masters level, and doctoral students must be currently enrolled in the program.  Extension center students must be taking at least two classes at the extension center to be considered full-time.  Full-time status for Financial Aid purposes only includes on campus, Saturday, and hybrid classes.  Internet courses, independent studies, and workshops DO NOT count toward full-time status.

*Extension Center Students- Please keep in mind that 2 courses is the full-time requirement for NOBTS Financial Aid purposes; your insurance and/or student loan company may require you to have more hours to achieve full-time status for their purposes. Please check with your insurance agent or loan provider if you have additional questions about meeting their requirements for full-time status.

  • A student must not have a past due balance on his or her NOBTS account.
  • A student must return a thank you note for the donor of their scholarship to the Financial Aid Office.

Award Notification

It takes several months after receiving the applications to process all of the scholarship awards.  Fall semester recipients are notified in July and Spring semester recipients are notified in December.
