Outside Seminary Funding
While NOBTS does offer need-based scholarships to current students, we also realize that there are many other organizations and ministries that offer scholarships as well. We encourage students to pursue any additional sources to help offset the cost of tuition while at Seminary. NOBTS does not directly endorse the scholarships listed below (except for the respective Baptist state conventions and foundations), but we do offer these links as a service to our students. Please select one of the following links to find valuable information and identify scholarships for which you may qualify. We work to consistently update this list by inserting newly available scholarships, deleting scholarships which are no longer available, and editing information such as contact persons, addresses, and/or qualifications. However, to help us make this site as useful as possible, please contact the Financial Aid Office at financialaid@nobts.edu if you know of updated information or encounter any problems with a scholarship listed below.
As each semester begins, tuition is due or a payment plan must be set up by the Final Day for Tuition Payment, which is the Friday before classes begin on the New Orleans campus. If your scholarship check will not arrive by this date, we can still consider the amount of the promised scholarship covered as long as we receive notification from the source by the Final Day for Tuition Payment. The Financial Aid Office will accept notification in several ways.
We CANNOT simply accept a student's word that they will be receiving a scholarship. We must have notification in one of the accepted formats. If notification is not received by the Final Day for Tuition Payment, the student will be considered responsible for the balance and could be charged a $100 late payment fee if the balance isn't covered by the deadline. *Students are responsible for understanding and abiding by particular requirements established by outside seminary scholarships. ******************* ******************* SUGGESTED PROCESS FOR IDENTIFYING OUTSIDE SEMINARY FUNDING Though you can puruse whatever plan works best for your particular situation, the seminary suggests the following steps:
******************* ******************* NOBTS does not accept any Federal funds including Stafford loans and Pell grants (therefore you do NOT need to complete the FAFSA form). We do, however, accept pre-paid state programs, VA benefits, the GI Bill, and TOPS. ******************* ******************* NOBTS does not participate in any Federal Student Aid. We do not accept Stafford loans, Pell grants, nor do we receive any information from FAFSA. NOBTS does accept the Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) for graduates of Louisiana high schools. For more information on TOPS, please visit the website for the Louisiana Office for Student Financial Assistance by clicking the link below. Please contact the Financial Aid Office at 504.282.4455 ext. 3348 or financialaid@nobts.edu if you are eligible for TOPS.
