It is accessible only from computers on the campus network. Similar to other databases, it is bibliographic in nature and deals with periodic literature in the field of music. Grove's Dictionary of Music and MusiciansSearch the New Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians online! It has the same content as the print resource. It is currently available only through computers on the main campus. Music Index OnlineThe editor-librarians at Harmonie Park Press have surveyed data from more than 700 international music periodicals. Topics concerned with every aspect of the classical and popular world of music are thoroughly categorized and organized according to the framework of an internal Subject List which includes both Subject and Geographic headings. Covering all styles and genres of music, The Music Index duly cites book reviews, obituaries, new periodicals, and news and articles about music, musicians, and the music industry. [from their web site] Music Dictionary OnlineMusic Dictionary Online's primary purpose is, in the case of non-English words and phrases, to offer translations and, more generally, and where appropriate, to offer explanations and comments about general (non-musical) and specialist (i.e. musical, etc.) terms that might be found in musical scores, books on music, web sites, CD notes, concert programmes, etc. Music Theory & History OnlineMeant to be offer music theory and history in a unique fashion, utilizing expertise of those supporting this site. Some topics are covered better by other, thus in these cases, web sites links are provided that do consider these topics fully. By embedding these resources from the web, we believe the method becomes much richer. You may call upon the skills of thousands of professional teachers and musicians rather than just those of a single author. The music theory resource includes a comprehensive music dictionary which is added to on a daily basis. As a companion a dictionary of composers biographical information is being developed. In addition to the extensive introduction to music theory, there are a series of essays on music history. Highlighted topics that are easily isolated within a narrow time period are offered with introductory remarks that may help prepare those seeking deeper insight from more substantial published works. Canadian Music Periodical IndexCMPI is an index of articles from Canadian music periodicals. CMPI is a free service provided by the National Library of Canada. Texts of articles are not available from this site, but can be obtained through interlibrary loan at your local library. The CMPI database includes nearly 30 000 entries on articles dating from the late-19th century to the present day. 500 Canadian music journals, newsletters and magazines are represented here, almost 200 of which are currently active and continue to be indexed. Music Education Resource BaseA bibliographic database of more than 31,000 resources in music and music education from 35 Canadian and International journals and other sources covering the period 1956 through the present. Some of these databases do provide links from the bibliographic entries to a full-text, on-line documents. This service can be utilized at the library or from your home or office computer. This service is available ONLY to NOBTS students and faculty. Passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary. ProQuest ReligionProQuest complements the ATLA database in the FirstSearch system. As with ATLA, this database is a bibliographic index of religious periodicals -- some not indexed in ATLA. Full-text ariticles are available. This service is available ONLY to NOBTS students and faculty. The URL & passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary. Christian Periodical Index (CPI)CPI is a database which provides bibliographic access to articles and reviews from over 130 publications within a broad range of evangelical Christianity. Academic/scholarly and professional type journals are indexed here. As with FirstSearch, this service is available ONLY to NOBTS students and faculty. Passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary. ProQuest Dissertation DatabaseThis is an online service for NOBTS students ONLY. Here, students may access dissertations and theses (UMI) online and even download them if desired. The URL & passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary. If you experience any problems, ProQuest technical support has asked that you call them directly. Their toll free number is 1-800-889-3358. This does NOT work if you have AOL. Research in Ministry (RIM)This database is available at no charge on the ATLA web site. Multiple search field will access nearly 500 submissions a year representing the most current reports and theses from approximately 50 Doctor of Ministry programs accredited by the Association of Theological School in the Untied States and Canada. Bibliographic access is available by author, title, institution, and subject headings. Some abstracts are available. TREN (Theological Research Exchange Network)TREN is a library of over 10,000 theological dissertation/thesis titles, representing research from as many as 70 institutions offering D.Min., Th.M., M.A., and other theologically related degrees. TREN also makes available papers presented at several academic society meetings. This is a bibliographic database, but items on the TREN web site are available for purchase.
