NGA Student Information

Preview Day

Join us on Monday, Oct 6, 2014 for the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Preview Day at the North GA Extension Center! Prospective students will have the opportunity to dialogue with faculty, staff and students over lunch, learn about NOBTS programs, and observe a class. Lunch is FREE for prospective students and those who invite prospective students (*registration is required to receive free lunch). Preview Day will be held in Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (955 Johnson Ferry Rd., Marietta, GA 30068, Magnolia Room).

Preview Day Tentative Schedule:
11:45-12:00 - Arrive and check-in
12:00-12:30 - Lunch with NGA faculty, staff, & students
12:30-1:00 - Presentation about NOBTS and NGA programs
1:00 - NGA Class observations

Ministry Opportunities

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Minister of Children/Young Adults.

  • The position will be full time with 40-45 hours a week.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • leading and implementing the children's ministry (recruiting and training volunteers)
    • coordinating special events for the children's ministry 
    • running the overall children's ministry of the church
    • hands on ministry to the young adults ages 18-29
    • leading a small group discipling ministry for spiritual growth and missional engagement
  • The candidate should be spiritually mature, flexible and visionary, and committed to being a team player with the rest of the staff to fulfill the mission and vision of the church.

Westside Baptist Church

Minister to Students - Part-time (20 hours/week) $200 week

Principal Function: The minister to students is responsible to the church, supervised by the senior pastor and accountable for developing a comprehensive program of student teaching and discipleship training.

Job Description for Part-time Minister to Students

 1. Promote spiritual growth and Christ-likeness among the youth

2. Plan and implement a strategy to reach the unsaved youth in the area

3. Oversee all the youth programs and ministries

4. Coordinate and administer Sunday School and Wednesday night teaching times

5. Meet regularly with the Student Booster Club and coordinate youth activities

6. Have a set time of availability to the youth for personal counseling and encouragement

7. Plan and implement fun activities for the youth

Compensation: $10.83 /hour for an average of 20 hours a week = $433 every pay period


Minister of Music/Worship – Part-time (15 hours/week) $200 week

1. Plan the music portion of the Sunday morning worship.

2. Schedule necessary practices to insure the praise team performs with excellence

3. Monitor performance of praise team members to ensure praise team guidelines are being met and appropriate level of preparation and commitment is being provided.

4. Provide coverage and scheduling for any special events or services such as Christmas or Easter

5. Recruit and work with vocal praise team members

6. Work closely with the pastor on song selection

7. Implement the dress guidelines set by the pastor and deacons

8. Have an ongoing discipleship relationship with praise team that helps prepare them spiritually for their Sunday morning responsibilities.

Compensation: $200 for 15 hours a week

Clairmont Hills Baptist Church

Ministry Internship - Decatur, Georgia

Intern positions at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church serve a dual purpose: first, they allow persons training for ministry vocations opportunities for hands-on experience in a church setting; second, they allow our church to receive the benefit of the ministry.


Each internship is custom designed to meet the needs and schedules of both the intern and the church. The overall term of the internship is flexible and will be determined in advance. In general, it is envisioned that the intern will be actively involved in ministry work and leadership for 10-15 hours per week during the term of the internship.


Our current internship will major on leadership in youth ministry but will provide other opportunities as needed and desired by the candidate and the church. A small monthly stipend is provided. For more information, please contact Pastor Fred O. Pitts by email at fred@clairmonthills.org.

First Baptist Church of Emerson

First Baptist Church of Emerson is looking for a part-time Youth Minister. The position pays $15,000 and requires about 10-15 hours per week. Contact gepotts1@gmail.com for more information. 

Endeavor Church at Hills Park

Endeavor Church at Hills Park will be formally launching in the spring of 2015, but  at this time, they have a regular service each Sunday at 11:30 AM.  Endeavor Church does a lot of evangelism/prayer walking and some Bible studies during the week. Endeavor Church at Hills Park is seeking interns or students needing some experience in children's ministry, music, discipleship, youth or evangelism, they have several places to plug students in. Student Partnerships

  • Belgium - Join other NOBTS students, faculty, and staff on short term mission trips to Belgium. The vision of this partnership is to work together to share the Gospel, make disciples of all Flemish people, and plant multiplying Flemish churches. 
  • Cameroon - Learn how you can join in the partnership with Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary through praying, teaching and many other opportunities. 
  • Lake Tahoe - Creatively and compassionately reveal the presence of God to those who live, work, and play in the resort communities surrounding Lake Tahoe through the A+ Before and After School program. Semester long ministry opportunities are available each fall and spring for college or recently graduated students.

Seminary Scholarships

Georgia Baptist Foundation offers financial assistance to all qualified Georgia Baptist students enrolled in Southern Baptist seminaries. The financial assistance is provided from funds held in trust by the Georgia Baptist Foundation. www.gbfoundation.org


BWMU of Georgia grants a limited number of scholarships each year to women residing in Georgia who are attending Baptist seminaries. To qualify for one of these scholarships, students must indicate an evidence of need, commitment to missions, academic ability, strong character, good health, personal references and acceptance by a Baptist seminary. An application form may be downloaded from the state WMU office web site, www.georgiawmu.org. The application form must be completed and returned to the WMU office by March 1.

NGA Programs

NGA English Programs

Graduate classes at the North Georgia Hub meet on Mondays as well as Tuesday nights for semester long courses. Hybrids courses meet on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays four times during the semester. Graduate students may earn a Master of Divinity, Master of Divinity with a specialization in Christian Education, Master of Arts in Christian Education, or Master of Arts in Worship Ministries. 


Leavell College classes meet on Mondays throughout the day and evening for semester long courses. Hybrid courses meet on Thursdays or Fridays four times during the semester. Students in Leavell College may obtain an Associate in Christian Ministry degree or work toward a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry degree.

Certificate Programs

The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Undergraduate Certificate Program was founded to respond to the needs of churches by preparing believers to serve more effectively in their church and their community. Certificate programs are accredited, available, affordable, and accessible. Click HERE for more information. 


NOBTS is offering a fully accredited Biblical Teaching Certificate Program. This program is available to all persons regardless of educational background. The purpose of this program is to provide supplemental training for ministers and local church leaders in biblical interpretation and instruction. Up to 12-18 hours can be applied toward an Associate or Bachelor's degree program. For more information on certificate programs email Dr. Peter Kendrick at pkendrick@nobts.edu.
