  • Served as Life group Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, in Baptist Churches for most of of my Adult Life. Included Churches are NorthPark Baptist Church of Trussville, AL; Hilldale Baptist Church of Center Point, AL; First Baptist Church of Pinson, AL.; and Elysian Fields Ave. Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA (as a Sunday school Teacher)

  • Summer Missionary appointed by the Home Mission Board: (North American Mission Board) Our family ministered with a SBC church in Rancho Cucamonga, California doing back yard Bible clubs and other mission projects. --- Summer 1986
  • Evangelistic Mission Trip to Brasilia, Brazil: I traveled with a team from the Birmingham Baptist Association --- August 2000
  • Evangelistic Mission Trip to Santa Cruz, Bolivia: Volunteer Mission trip with my son Stephen; the trip was approved and sanctioned by the International Mission Board --- January 2002
  • Evangelistic Mission Trip to East Asia: Dr. Ken Taylor of NOBTS led the group; the trip was approved and sanctioned by the International Mission Board of the SBC --- June 2004
  • Mission trip with NorthPark Baptist Church to Jamaica --- July 2005

Family

  • Wife: Carolyn—Carolyn is a retired library media specialist. She was working in the Birmingham School System when she retired.
  • Daughter: Janet Thompson—Janet and her husband Chase are the parents of five children; Chloe, Abbey, John Caedmon, Kassidy and Phoebe. Janet is a former high school Math and French teacher. Chase is Pastor of Agape Baptist Church.
  • Son: Stephen—Stephen is the Associate Pastor at NorthPark Baptist Church in Trussville, AL. In addition, Stephen teaches as an adjunct faculty member for New Orleans Baptist theological Seminary. Stephen and his wife Kelly are the parents of three children, Sydney, Seth. and Sadie
