On-Line Resources

FirstSearch

          FirstSearch is an on-line service which allows the searching of several bibliographic databases. Some of these databases do provide links from the bibliographic entries to a full-text, on-line documents. This service can be utilized at the library or from your home or office computer.
          This service is available ONLY to NOBTS students and faculty. Passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary.
          Some of the databases available through this service are: ATLA, ArticleFirst, PsycFirst, WorldCat -- and more!

Christian Periodical Index (CPI)

          CPI is a database which provides bibliographic access to articles and reviews from over 130 publications within a broad range of evangelical Christianity.  Academic/scholarly and professional type journals are indexed here.
          As with FirstSearch, this service is available ONLY to NOBTS students and faculty. Passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary.

Southern Baptist Periodical Index (SBPI)

          This index, produced by Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar, MO) indexes 80 Southern Baptist periodicals. This service is available ONLY from the main campus.

Contemporary Authors

          This on-line service allows you to search for biographical information on authors. Unless an author is well-known, you may need to utilize other resources. This resource is accessible only by obtaining the URL and passkeys from the circulation desk.

ProQuest Religion & Dissertations Database

          This on-line service through ProQuest complements the ATLA database in the FirstSearch System. As with ATLA, this database is a bibliographic index of religious periodicals -- some not indexed in ATLA. This service is available ONLY to NOBTS students and faculty. The URL & passkeys may be obtained by contacting the library and giving proof of your relationship to the seminary.
          Utilizing the same interface as ProQuest Religion, ProQuest Dissertations can be accessed here.  This is an online service for NOBTS students ONLY. Here, students may access dissertations and theses (UMI) online and even download them if desired. 

Digital Library of Classical Protestant Texts

          DLCPT provides seminal works from the Reformation and post-Reformation eras. With new content uploads occurring on a weekly basis, the database offers a constantly growing treasury of theological writings, biblical commentaries, confessional documents, and polemical treatises written by more than 300 Protestant authors.

Research in Ministry (RIM)

          This database is available at no charge on the ATLA web site. Multiple search field will access nearly 500 submissions a year representing the most current reports and theses from approximately 50 Doctor of Ministry programs accredited by the Association of Theological School in the Untied States and Canada. Bibliographic access is available by author, title, institution, and subject headings. Some abstracts are available.

TREN (Theological Research Exchange Network)

          TREN is a library of over 8,000 theological dissertation/thesis titles, representing research from as many as 70 institutions offering D.Min., Th.M., M.A., and other theologically related degrees. TREN also makes available papers presented at several academic society meetings. This is a bibliographic database, but items on the TREN web site are available for purchase.

          You can also use our library's virtual reference room for links to online resources, listservs, discussion groups as well as lists of key print resources.

PERSEUS PROJECT

          Digital library of classical, Renaissance, and many other documents and items. A digital project of Tufts University.

CD ROM Database Resources

These databases are accessible only in the library.

TLG (Thesaura Lingua Graece)

          This is a Greek Language database containing the texts of Plato to Paul and many others. It has several search functions and utilizes the Liddell-Scott Greek Lexicon.

CetoDoc

          Latin writings of the early Church and the Church Fathers are found on this database.
