Recalibrate 2: Breaking the power of secrecy

By Marilyn Stewart

Pornography and sexual addictions are no longer problems outside the church. In today’s world, church leaders must be equipped to recognize those who suffer from addictions and know where to get help.

Recalibrate 2, the follow-up to last year’s one-day event, is Oct. 13, 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Leavell Chapel. Featured speakers include Sauna Winsor, Ashley Jamison, Heather Kolb, Nick Stumbo, and Bryan Roberts. The event is presented by Pure Desire Ministries.

"This is our second training event regarding dealing with sexual impurity, which is running rampant in our society today," said Dr. Kathy Steele, professor of psychology and counseling. "This event will help prepare our ministers in our churches, as well as students preparing for ministry, to deal with one of the most potentially destructive forces in our spiritual lives today. Don't miss this opportunity!"

Porn addiction may afflict those in leadership positions as well as lay people. “Most pastors (57%) and youth pastors (64%) admit they have struggled with porn, either currently or in the past,” according to a Barna Group report, Jan.2016.

The event is free and live-streaming will be available. To register, visit www.nobts.edu/recalibrate
