Charitable Bequests

Making a Bequest to NOBTS

Large or small, bequests are an important part of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's growth.  Bequests continue to account for a major portion of the Seminary's endowment and provide significant funding for many of the Seminary's current programs.

Leaving A Legacy

Everyone needs to have a will indicating how your property is to be used after your lifetime.  For many NOBTS alumni and friends, the bequest is the most popular form of planned gift.  A will does not reduce your current income, yet it enables you to provide substantial future support for the work and mission of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  A gift to the Seminary through your will has several advantages:

  • Charitable gifts made through your will are deductible for estate tax purposes.
  • You may direct your bequest to the Seminary as a whole or to a specific program.
  • A charitable bequest may place your estate in a lower tax bracket.
  • If you wish to establish a scholarship or other endowment fund through your will, you can request that it be named for you or anyone you wish to honor.
  • When you notify New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary of your bequest intention and send the Seminary a copy of your will or trust document, you will be enrolled in the Dement Society which honors alumni and friends who have established a planned gift for the Seminary.
