Alex teaches in the area of Christian Philosophy in Leavell College. His classes incorporate and emphasize historical philosophy/humanities, metaphysics, and the relationship between faith and reason.
His scholarly work has focused primarily on the metaphysics of identity, investigating the nature of change and persistence in objects and persons.
He received a BA in Christian Studies and a MA in Philosophy of Religion from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he wrote and defended his master’s thesis. Alex also earned a Th.M. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Nottingham and is in the writing stage of his dissertation. He expects to complete his doctoral degree in 2028.
Alex is married to Brianna Oakley who also serves at NOBTS/Leavell College. They are expecting their first child in the fall of 2025.
