Bio

Joe Sherrer’s research and writing has focused on adult education and ministry in the local church. Building on his dissertation of motivational factors influencing the retention of adult Sunday school leaders, he has written extensively on the administration of educational programs for adults in the church and denomination. During his most recent sabbatical he conducted a Delphi study of denominational and local church leaders to determine the top ten trends in adult ministry.

Much of his recent work has been in the area of Christian leadership, especially how leaders can build high performance staff and volunteer teams. Other areas of emphasis are strategic leadership, disciple-making strategies, and conflict resolution and crisis management. Sherrer frequently provides consultation to local church and serves as an interim staff member. He has a background of local church, associational, state, and national experience. He and his wife, Liz, have two sons and five grandchildren.
