More recently, she has focused her research on the relationship between literature and religion, particularly as relates to the God-given human imagination. She presents regularly at composition conferences and accreditation conferences.
She has been teaching in some capacity for more than thirty-five years, two of those years as a journeyman missionary to Brazil with the Foreign Mission Board (now IMB). She is married to Philip, and they have two daughters.
