Stephen Rummage, the senior pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Fla., and chairman of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, will lead this year’s Stanfield Preaching Lectures April 10-11 at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The sessions are free and open to the public.
The Stanfield Preaching Lectures, sponsored by the Adrian Rogers Center for Expository Preaching at NOBTS, were established to honor the memory of V. L. Stanfield, former professor of preaching. The lectures are led by outstanding preachers who will exemplify Stanfield’s definition of preaching: “Preaching is giving the Bible a voice.”
The focus of the event will be “Developing a Plan for Preaching through the Book of Acts.”
The lectures will begin Monday, April 10, from 2-4 p.m. in Sellers Recital Hall. The first 20 attendees receive a copy of Rummage’s book Planning Your Preaching. The lectures will continue that evenings from 6-8 p.m. in Sellers Recital Hall. The second day of the lectures begins Tuesday, April 11, 11 a.m.-Noon in Leavell Chapel and concludes with a Question and Answer session from 1:15-2:30 p.m. in Sellers Recital Hall.
