Large or small, bequests are an important part of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's growth. Bequests continue to account for a major portion of the Seminary's endowment and provide significant funding for many of the Seminary's current programs.
Leaving A Legacy
Everyone needs to have a will indicating how your property is to be used after your lifetime. For many NOBTS alumni and friends, the bequest is the most popular form of planned gift. A will does not reduce your current income, yet it enables you to provide substantial future support for the work and mission of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. A gift to the Seminary through your will has several advantages:
Charitable gifts made through your will are deductible for estate tax purposes.
You may direct your bequest to the Seminary as a whole or to a specific program.
A charitable bequest may place your estate in a lower tax bracket.
If you wish to establish a scholarship or other endowment fund through your will, you can request that it be named for you or anyone you wish to honor.
When you notify New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary of your bequest intention and send the Seminary a copy of your will or trust document, you will be enrolled in the Dement Society which honors alumni and friends who have established a planned gift for the Seminary.
