Dr. Waylon and Mrs. Martha Bailey

A Legacy of Faithfulness

Honoring Dr. Waylon and Mrs. Martha Bailey, and the Church They Have Served

You do not need an introduction. You have witnessed their faithfulness firsthand — decades of faithful preaching, servant leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this community and beyond.

This is an invitation, extended first to those who know them best, to ensure that what God has built through their lives continues to bear fruit for generations to come.

Dr. Bailey joined the NOBTS faculty in 1978, shaping ministers for nearly two decades before answering the call to serve as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Covington in 1989 — where he faithfully serves today. In addition, he is serving NOBTS again as a trustee. His love for Scripture, his depth of scholarship, and his decades of pastoral faithfulness make him the embodiment of everything NOBTS exists to produce.

Mrs. Martha leads a weekly women's Bible study that draws 400 women — equipping them in the Word and sending them back into their homes, churches, and their community as women of conviction, grace, and strength.

Together, they are a living portrait of the NOBTS mission: to prepare servants who walk with Christ, proclaim His truth, and fulfill His mission.
