I remember it like it was yesterday. I was working and studying at the Miami extension of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Leavell College, but I had brought several students to the school’s main campus for graduation. While there, sitting in Leavell Chapel, God clearly spoke to my heart. He told me to pack my bags and finish my Masters of Divinity in missions in New Orleans.
It wasn’t what I expected to hear, but I knew without a doubt that the Lord was leading me. And I’ve stayed in the city—and with the seminary.
These days, I serve with my husband, Errol, on the Foundation Board and take part in the seminary’s community—especially the choir—when I get the chance. But what I really love is the time I spend with the school’s students and graduates at Metairie Baptist Church, where I serve as minister of music and administration. Some of them are on staff. Many of them are volunteering across the church body. They are all incredible people who love God and want to follow His call with their whole heart.
Now, I know that not everyone has the privilege of meeting students or working with them as closely as I do, but I wish more people could. If they did, they would understand just how special these servant leaders are. Seeing God at work in them is one of the main reasons our family gives monthly to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Leavell College. We want to partner with God’s work. We want to make a difference in the lives of students who will make a difference for the kingdom.
Errol and I choose to give a monthly gift that corresponds to the year I graduated. But that’s only one option. However you choose to contribute, you can know for sure that God is going to use your generosity for His glory.
Honestly, I’ve come to realize that everyone and everything associated with NOBTS and Leavell College benefits from the outpouring of their donors.
